Job Description
  • Overall coordination of humanitarian interventions in the project / Programme region (in line with the Emergency Response Plan)
  • Updates, coordinates with and capacitates the Emergency Response Team on regular basis
  • Carries out a focal role in the field during Emergency Response/Recovery interventions and closely coordinates with partners, beneficiaries, local government and other concerned stakeholders
  • Ensures smooth coordination and implementation of humanitarian (emergency response and emergency recovery) interventions in the field under supervision of the HoP / HR
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive emergency operation mechanism (coordination and communication) with relevant stakeholders on provincial / local level
  • Through these coordination mechanisms, he/she ensures timely, inclusive and appropriate humanitarian interventions in line with international humanitarian standards (SPHERE, CHS, etc.)
  • Collects and disseminates timely, accurate, detailed, reliable and up-to-date authentic information on the humanitarian situation and the emergency response / recovery efforts
  • Carries out partner mappings, assessments and trainings if/when required
  • Carries out (rapid) assessments and MEAL related activities in the field based on standardized tools and methods
  • Coordinates with the provincial / local government stakeholders and carries out an advocacy function on local level on behalf of the target communities and the humanitarian community in close consultation with the HoP/HR
  • Drafts technical reports meeting deadline and compliance requirements of AWO International and the respective donor
  • Provides input and drafts concept notes / proposal to access funding streams in close coordination with the HoP/HR
  • Supports the drafting of write-ups for communication material with inputs and data in close coordination with the HoP/HR
  • Performs any other tasks as requested by the HoP/HR
Job Specification
  •  A postgraduate degree in Disaster Risk Management/Humanitarian Action or similar/related fields
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ relevant professional experience in coordinating, developing and implementing humanitarian interventions
  • Experience working in the regional context of South Asia is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of key humanitarian principles, processes and procedures as well as roles/responsibilities of humanitarian actors
  • Experience in carrying our cash-based interventions is an asset
  • Excellent drafting skills in Nepali, English and any other local language in the South Asian context
