Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) came into being in 1963. It was recognized by the ICRC in 1964 and affiliated to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the same year. NRCS has, over the years, grown to be the largest humanitarian organization in Nepal, with its network of District Chapters (DCs) extended in each of the 75 districts of the country.

Position: WASH Officer (Level six)

Number: One

Duty Station: Nepalgunj, with frequent travel in program districts

Duration: One year with possibility of extension

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor in social science or any subject from recognized institute. At least 3 years working experience on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector; good understanding of government policy on WASH. Need excellent communication, coordination and facilitation/presentation skill. Ability to communicate and write reports both in English and Nepali languages. Excellent computer skills in MS office. Age bar is 21- 35 yrs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: WASH Officer

Level: 6 (Six)

Component: Community Health and WASH

Duty Station: Nepalgunj, with frequent travel in program districts

Major Responsibilities:

• Support implementation of the project according to the project design and log-frame under Community Health and WASH component in CEHP.

• Make regular visit to the programme areas to monitor and observe progress of the project and also to provide technical support to the NRCS district chapters, sub-chapters, schools and communities.

• Develop/design necessary IEC/BCC, formats, manuals, guidelines, tools for the program as required.

• Coordinate with NRCS implemented other projects in the programme area.

• Coordinate and network with other organizations working in the Mid-west region on WASH, health and development issues to share information and gain support and funds through linkage building.

• Support NRCS chapters for effective monitoring, periodic review and reflection workshops and learning events and recommend to the authorities to review program outcomes and strategies.

• Build good relation with the program districts’ District Development Committees, District Water Supply and Sanitation Offices, District Education Offices and Village Development Committees and mobilize their support for better results.

• Facilitate to activate R-WASH-CC, D-WASH-CC, V-WASH-CCs etc

• Support to prepare monthly and event based report or as required.

• Record the programme related information/documents properly.

• Fulfill other specific assignments given by the CEHP.
