Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to join a growing Australian public accounting practice. This is a hands-on accounting role ideal for someone with strong Australian accounting experience who can independently manage client files and deliver accurate, timely work.

You will manage a portfolio of Australian SME clients, handling bookkeeping, reconciliations, BAS/IAS, payroll, financial statements and income tax return preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain assigned Xero client files, including transaction coding and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements, P&L, Balance Sheets and supporting reconciliations.
  • Prepare BAS, IAS and Australian income tax returns for Individuals, Sole Traders, Partnerships, Trusts and Companies.
  • Process and review payroll, STP Phase 2, leave entitlements and superannuation.
  • Monitor ATO compliance requirements and lodgement deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies, missing information and potential compliance issues.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and the Australian team regarding queries and required documentation.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance and file quality.
Job Specification
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Australian accounting experience, preferably within an Australian accounting practice or reputable outsourcing firm.
  • Strong proficiency in Xero, XPM and Xero Tax.
  • Proven experience with BAS, IAS, financial statements and Australian tax returns.
  • Good understanding of Australian taxation, GST, payroll, superannuation and ATO requirements.
  • Experience handling different Australian business structures.
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliations, P&L review and year-end accounting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple client files and deadlines.

Remote Work Requirements

  • Professional and quiet home-office setup.
  • Reliable high-speed internet with backup connectivity where possible.
  • Reliable backup power/UPS.
  • Ability to consistently work during agreed Australian business hours.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and skills.
  • 100% Remote Work from Nepal.
  • Long-term, permanent career opportunity.
  • Ongoing training and professional development in Australian accounting and taxation.
  • Exposure to a diverse portfolio of Australian SME clients.
  • Career growth opportunities within a growing international accounting practice.
  • Supportive and professional team environment.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong accountant, not a purely supervisory candidate. The ideal person can independently work on an Australian client file, identify issues, complete reconciliations, prepare BAS and financial statements, and progress the file through to tax return preparation.

If you have strong Australian accounting experience and advanced Xero skills, we’d love to hear from you!
