Job Description
Position: Lab Technologist
Location: Bhairahawa
Opening: 1
Qualification: B.Sc in MLT or Higher
Experience: 2-3 Years in Related Field
Job Responsibilities:
Collection and Processing of Specimens:
Collect, process, and handle blood and/or other biological specimens according to established procedures.
Instruct patients on proper specimen collection techniques for accuracy and efficiency.
Clinical Laboratory Testing:
Perform clinical laboratory tests in hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid.
Perform blood counts and use a microscope to analyze samples.
Blood Transfusion Testing:
Conduct blood tests for transfusion purposes, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed during blood collection from patients, including finger, ear lobe, or vein.
Cell/Tissue Culture and Specimen Isolation:
Develop and maintain cell/tissue cultures for testing purposes.
Isolate and identify specimens using advanced laboratory techniques, ensuring accuracy and integrity of test results.
Quality Control and Calibration:
Perform daily internal control runs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory tests.
Monitor and evaluate test results for validity and accuracy.
Perform calibration and troubleshooting of testing systems and instruments to maintain adherence to established standards.
Match Levey-Jennings (LJ) curves daily and take corrective actions as necessary, documenting all steps.
Sample Analysis and Turnaround Time Monitoring:
Run daily sample analyses and provide timely, accurate results.
Monitor turnaround times for tests to ensure operational efficiency.
Record and document all re-runs and any corrective actions taken.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of test results according to laboratory procedures.
Ensure all reports are accurate and generated in a timely manner.
Safety and Infection Control:
Adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control methods at all times.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of biological samples and chemicals to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
Additional Duties:
Perform daily maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory instruments.
Recommend improvements to the quality system and testing kits to the Head of Department.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
