Job Description
Position: Fiber Technician
Location: Butwal
Job Description
Able to use and operate optical instruments and ODN products, mainly splicing machine, OTDR, FDB, JCs, power meter, PLC splitter, EDFA, FTTH network design, and WDM EDFA.
Monitor optical network issues deployed in different locations and forward the issues to the respective vendor and technician.
Monitor the fiber trunk link connection for ISP headend and escalate issues to the designated vendor.
Take care of fiber splicing inside Point of Distribution premises and rectify fiber optic problem areas.
Conduct timely inspections to ensure that faulty fiber optic systems do not destabilize performance.
Keep track of the signal strength of different devices, including SFP, to provide adequate performance.
Maintain and prepare audit reports of network designs from third-party vendors.
Design and use GIS, Google Maps, or any geographical mapping software to track the FTTH deployed equipment.
Coordinate and report to the supervisor.
Calculate the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for ISP network infrastructure.
Analyze the overall optical power budget of the Distribution Network.
Job Specification:
The candidate must have a +2 degree or equivalent diploma.
Up to 2 years or more of experience in FTTH.
Basic IT and computer skills, good knowledge of MS Office.
Basic electrical knowledge will be an added advantage.
Willingness to travel and relocate all over Nepal.
Must have a bike license and own a bike.
Flexibility to work in shifts.
