Job Description

Position: Program Officer-31 (Sarlahi-20, Mahottari-5, Rautahat-6)

Project: Health, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and WASH in Education

Duty Station: Sarlahi / Mahottari / Rautahat

Reporting to: District Coordinator

1. Position Overview

The Program Officer will support the effective implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the “Health, DRR and Education” project at the district and community levels. The role involves coordinating field activities, engaging with stakeholders, providing technical support to field teams, and ensuring that project interventions on health, education, nutrition, and disaster risk reduction (DRR) are delivered with quality and within the planned timeline.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Program Implementation

  • Assist in planning and executing project activities related to health promotion, nutrition awareness, school safety, and DRR preparedness.

  • Facilitate training sessions, orientations, community meetings, and school-level activities.

  • Support mothers’ groups, adolescents, teachers, and community groups in project interventions.

  • Ensure activities are implemented according to project guidelines and standards.

B. Monitoring & Field Support

  • Conduct regular field visits to track progress, identify gaps, and provide on-site support to Social Mobilizers and field staff.

  • Collect accurate data, attendance sheets, photos, and field reports from community activities.

  • Support MEAL processes including baseline assessments, monitoring, and documentation.

  • Ensure safeguarding, GESI, and accountability standards are followed in all activities.

C. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain coordination with Municipalities, Ward Offices, Schools, Health Facilities, Women’s Groups, and Community Leaders.

  • Participate in district-level coordination meetings, cluster meetings, and project review sessions.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local partners and stakeholders.

D. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports and submit them to the District Coordinator.

  • Document case studies, success stories, and best practices from the field.

  • Support data entry, record keeping, and documentation of project materials.

E. Logistics & Support Functions

  • Facilitate the distribution of project materials and ensure proper documentation.

  • Provide logistical support for trainings, workshops, field visits, and community events.

  • Assist finance and admin teams in ensuring proper use of resources.

3. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, Rural Development, or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NGO/community-level program implementation.

  • Knowledge of health promotion, education systems, nutrition, DRR, and community mobilization.

  • Good communication, facilitation, and coordination skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and reporting.

  • Willingness to travel frequently to field areas.
