Job Description

Work closely with and support programme team to effectively manage existing grants. Be the expert on all institutional funding compliance requirements ensuring all grants are meeting the contractual requirements. Also ensuring that donor deadlines are met.
Develop and run training sessions to ensure that all staff and partners are aware and understand the VSO and donor requirements on grants Maintain and update the grant accounting codes on a regular basis. Ensure that grant codes are issued in a timely manner.
Ensure that all staff are clear on the codes that should be used. Ensure that there are high quality management information reports available to programme managers and the Country Director on grant expenditure.
Maintain a picture of matched funding liabilities. Ensure that grant files (as per the finance manual) are maintained and easily accessible both online and hard copy.
Ensure that variance analysis is accurately completed and that corrective action is applied, followed through and followed up.
Prepare accurate quarterly updates on funding balances to the Finance Manager, ensuring the balances reflect the up to date picture.

Job Specification

Technical Accounting Expertise - Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Bachelor's degree in Accountancy with significant Grant Management experience.
Skilled financial accountant with knowledge of financial management of restricted donor funding, reporting, procurement procedures, grant management, grant equipment, donor rules and regulations for non-profit organisations.
Strong leadership experience in budget management (including project budgets), financial planning and analysis. Knowledge of Internal, External and Project Audit. Strong attention to detail..
