The coach is expected to foster physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a lifelong passion for the sport, while identifying and nurturing talented players for school-level and interschool competitions.

Primary Level (Grades 1-5): Focus on fundamental motor skills, basic ball handling (dribbling, passing, catching), coordination, fun games, and introducing the simple rules of basketball in an engaging, supportive environment.
Middle School (Grades 6-8): Develop core basketball skills (shooting form, defensive stance, rebounding), introduce offensive and defensive concepts, teach basic team plays, and emphasize skill application in practice games.
Secondary Level (Grades 9-10): Refine advanced techniques (ball handling under pressure, tactical shooting, man-to-man and zone defense), teach complex offensive and defensive systems, develop game intelligence, and prepare students for competitive matches.
Develop a structured, year-round basketball curriculum and practice plan that ensures progressive skill development from Grade 1 through 10.
Integrate physical fitness training (agility, speed, endurance, strength) appropriate for each age group into basketball practices.
Teach and consistently reinforce the rules of the game, sportsmanship, discipline, and positive team culture.
B. Team Management & Competition
Identify, select, and train school basketball teams (boys and girls) for interschool tournaments, leagues, and other competitive events.
Organize and lead regular practice sessions for school teams, focusing on advanced skill development, team chemistry, and game strategy.
Coach teams during competitions, providing tactical guidance, motivation, and constructive feedback during timeouts and halftime.
Manage all logistical aspects of team participation in external events, including registrations, transportation, and player supervision.
Organize and oversee internal school basketball tournaments and events to promote participation and school spirit.
C. Player Development & Welfare
Monitor student-athletes' physical development and educate them on injury prevention, proper warm-up/cool-down techniques, and nutrition.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during practices, games, and travel, adhering to school safeguarding policies.
Identify students with exceptional talent and potential, providing them with advanced guidance and opportunities for further development.
Foster a positive and inclusive environment where students of all skill levels feel encouraged to participate and improve.

Ensure the basketball courts are safe, clean, and properly set up for practices and games.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, team selections, practice schedules, and competition results.
Assist in managing the sports budget related to the basketball program, including equipment purchases and team expenses.
E. Communication, Collaboration & Professionalism
Maintain clear and regular communication with students, parents, and school leadership regarding practice schedules, game results, and player progress.
Collaborate closely with the Physical Education department and class teachers to ensure alignment with the overall school sports program and to support student-athletes' academic responsibilities.
Participate actively in sports department meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic at all times.
Perform assigned duties during school events, assemblies, or supervision as required.
