Job Description

The Sales Manager (Department Head) is responsible for leading the sales department to achieve revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, managing and mentoring the sales team, building strong customer relationships, monitoring market trends, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with the organization's business objectives.
  • Prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans and budgets.
  • Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and growth areas.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to adapt sales strategies.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and departmental goals.
  • Set sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for team members.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Recruit, train, and retain high-performing sales professionals.

Business Development

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients and strategic partners.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms with customers.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase market share.
  • Represent the company at meetings, trade shows, and industry events.

Sales Operations

  • Monitor daily sales activities and ensure achievement of sales targets.
  • Analyze sales data and prepare periodic sales reports and forecasts.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of customer records and sales pipeline using CRM systems.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service departments to ensure smooth execution of sales activities.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain excellent customer satisfaction through timely service and effective communication.
  • Resolve customer concerns and escalations professionally.
  • Develop long-term partnerships with key accounts to maximize customer retention and revenue.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage departmental sales budgets.
  • Monitor pricing strategies, profit margins, and sales performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical business practices.
  • Submit accurate sales reports, forecasts, and performance analyses to senior management.
Job Specification
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA) is an advantage.
  • Relevant certifications in Sales or Leadership are desirable.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive sales experience.
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a sales leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.

Authority

The Sales Manager (Department Head) has the authority to:

  • Allocate sales territories and assign customer accounts.

  • Recommend strategic sales initiatives and departmental improvements to senior management.
