Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee the organization's accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the FMCG or manufacturing industry and possess strong expertise in financial reporting, inventory accounting, taxation, budgeting, and statutory compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, supporting strategic financial planning, and leading the accounts team to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare Management Information System (MIS) reports and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
  • Monitor general ledger activities and maintain the accuracy of financial records.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes within established timelines.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget utilization and analyze variances.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and ensure effective liquidity management.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Inventory & Cost Accounting

  • Manage inventory accounting and ensure accurate valuation of inventory.
  • Monitor stock movements and conduct periodic stock reconciliations.
  • Coordinate physical inventory verification and resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyze product costing, manufacturing costs, and inventory variances to improve profitability.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of VAT/GST, TDS, income tax, and other statutory returns.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Coordinate with tax consultants and regulatory authorities during assessments and audits.
  • Keep updated with changes in taxation and financial regulations.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Ensure timely payments to vendors and effective collection of receivables.
  • Review outstanding balances and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Monitor credit control and cash collection performance.

Banking & Treasury

  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor daily banking transactions.
  • Coordinate with banks regarding loans, guarantees, and other banking facilities.
  • Ensure proper management of company funds and banking documentation.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Implement and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend corrective measures.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal policies.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the finance and accounts team.
  • Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
  • Conduct training and support continuous professional development within the department.

ERP & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate financial records using Tally, ERP, or other accounting software.
  • Improve accounting processes through automation and system enhancements.
  • Ensure data integrity across financial systems.
Job Specification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CA or ACCA (Qualified or Semi-qualified) will be given preference.
  • Professional certifications related to accounting or finance will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
  • Mandatory experience in the FMCG or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience in handling audits, budgeting, and financial planning is highly desirable.

  • Expertise in inventory accounting and cost accounting.
