This role requires an educator who can foster greater independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving while providing a supportive and structured classroom environment. The teacher is expected to master and deliver a standardized curriculum, manage diverse learning needs, and prepare students for the increasing academic demands of upper elementary grades.

  • Mathematics: Teach and master multiplication and division facts, fractions, geometry, measurement, data interpretation, and multi-step word problems, building strong conceptual understanding.
  • Science: Lead hands-on, inquiry-based units (e.g., life cycles, matter, simple machines, solar system) using the scientific method.
  • Social Studies: Explore communities, government, geography, history, and cultures with increased depth, connecting to reading and writing skills.
  • Integrate technology meaningfully for research, presentations, and skill practice.

B. Classroom Management & Culture

  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment that promotes student agency, responsibility, and collaborative learning.
  • Implement clear, consistent procedures and routines that maximize instructional time.
  • Foster a growth mindset, resilience, and intrinsic motivation in students.

C. Assessment & Data-Driven Practice

  • Administer a variety of formative and summative assessments, including quizzes, tests, projects, presentations, and standardized practice tests.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify learning gaps, inform instructional planning, and provide targeted interventions or enrichment.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student progress, assignments, and behavior.
  • Prepare detailed report cards and conduct substantive parent-teacher conferences focused on academic growth and work habits.

D. Student Support & Development

  • Actively support the development of executive functioning skills: organization, time management, study skills, and task completion.
  • Monitor and support students' social-emotional well-being, mediating conflicts and teaching pro-social skills.
  • Identify students who may require additional support (academic, behavioral, emotional) and collaborate with Special Educators, Counselors, and Specialists following MTSS/RTI processes.

E. Communication, Collaboration & Professionalism

  • Maintain proactive, clear, and regular communication with parents/guardians via digital platforms, newsletters, emails, and meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with Grade 2 and Grade 4 teaching teams for vertical alignment and smooth student transitions.
  • Participate actively in grade-level team meetings, department meetings, PLCs (Professional Learning Communities), and whole-staff professional development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance subject matter expertise and pedagogical skills.
  • Participate in and contribute to school-wide events, committees, and duties (e.g., supervision).
