Job Description
The Cook will be responsible for preparing high-quality food items as per the menu, ensuring smooth kitchen operations, and maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. The role involves close coordination with chefs and junior staff, efficient handling of kitchen systems, and managing inventory to support uninterrupted restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Big Burrito’s recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Take and assemble customer orders accurately as per individual requests.
- Coordinate closely with chefs, junior kitchen staff, and service team to ensure smooth and timely food service.
- Handle the POS system when required and assist in cashiering duties.
- Check daily stock levels of dry goods, vegetables, fruits, dairy, and other kitchen essentials.
- Prepare and submit requisitions for required ingredients and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen at all times.
- Ensure food safety standards, proper storage, and correct handling of ingredients.
- Assist in managing workflow during peak hours and be able to work long hours when needed.
- Support overall kitchen operations and contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.
Job Specification
- Proven experience as a Cook or Kitchen Assistant (Tex-Mex/Mexican cuisine experience is a plus).
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, hygiene, and food safety practices.
- Ability to operate POS systems and handle basic cashiering tasks.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
- Willingness to work long or flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
