Job Description

Rukumeli Social Development Center (RSDC) Rukum, a well-established non-governmental organization working in the field of community development, is currently implementing the “Building Resilient Communities for the Changing Climate (NPK010)” project in Kalimati and Triveni Rural Municipalities of Salyan District. The project is financially supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through FELM Nepal, in partnership with LI-BIRD.

The project aims to enhance food and nutrition security, promote sustainable livelihoods, and strengthen climate resilience and disaster risk management capacities at the community level.

RSDC invites applications from qualified, competent, and self-motivated Nepali citizens for the following position:

Position: Field Officer

Duty Station: Salyan (Kalimati & Triveni RM)

Number of Positions: 1

Contract Duration: 1 Year (with possibility of extension)

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Summary:

The Field Officer (FO) will be responsible for the effective coordination and implementation of project activities at the field level in close collaboration with local governments, community groups, and key stakeholders. The position will ensure timely planning, execution, and monitoring of project interventions related to food and nutrition security, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and disaster risk management.

The Field Officer will play a key role in community mobilization, capacity building, and technical facilitation, ensuring that project targets are achieved in line with approved plans and quality standards. S/he will be responsible for regular field monitoring, documentation, and reporting of progress, lessons learned, and challenges.

Additionally, the FO will strengthen coordination with stakeholders, support local-level planning processes, and promote inclusive participation, ensuring that gender equality, social inclusion, and safeguarding principles are integrated across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, implementation, and coordination of project activities at the field level

  • Facilitate community-based interventions, training, and stakeholder engagement processes

  • Ensure effective monitoring, quality assurance, and timely reporting of project activities

  • Provide technical support in areas of agriculture, livelihoods, and climate resilience

  • Maintain accurate project data, records, and documentation in line with organizational standards

  • Strengthen coordination and partnerships with local governments and relevant stakeholders

  • Support administrative, logistical, and basic financial management processes as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in climate resilience, agriculture, or livelihood-related projects

Core Competencies:

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, monitoring, and reporting

  • Ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Fluency in both Nepali and English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid motorbike/scooter driving license

  • Prior experience working in field-based development projects

Job Summary:

The Social Mobilizer (SM) will support the effective implementation of project activities at the community level by working closely with local governments, community groups, and other stakeholders. The position will focus on community mobilization, awareness raising, and facilitation of project interventions related to food and nutrition security, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and disaster risk management.

The SM will assist in planning, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of project activities while ensuring active participation of target communities, with a strong focus on gender equality, social inclusion, and safeguarding principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and implementation of project activities at the community level

  • Mobilize communities and facilitate group formation, meetings, and participatory processes

  • Conduct awareness campaigns, training sessions, and community-level orientations

  • Assist in monitoring project progress and ensuring quality implementation of activities

  • Collect, maintain, and update project data, records, and field-level documentation

  • Support the promotion of climate-resilient agriculture and livelihood practices

  • Facilitate coordination with local governments, community groups, and stakeholders

  • Ensure inclusion of women, marginalized, and vulnerable groups in all project activities

  • Report field-level progress, challenges, and lessons learned to the Field Officer

  • Provide support in administrative, logistical, and basic financial tasks as required

Required Qualifications:

  • JTA (Agriculture) or a related field from a recognized institution

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience in agriculture, community mobilization, or livelihood-related projects

Core Competencies:

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively with communities and diverse stakeholders

  • Basic understanding of project implementation, monitoring, and reporting

  • Good organizational and documentation skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Fluency in Nepali; working knowledge of English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in NGO/INGO field-based projects

  • Familiarity with local context of Salyan district
