Job Description

The Finance Intern will support day-to-day accounting, cash handling, and bank reconciliation to ensure accurate records for a fashion and lifestyle business. This role is ideal for a fresher who wants practical exposure to accounting entries, payment tracking, and accounting software while meeting time-sensitive reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Post accounting entries for daily transactions, ensuring correct heads, dates, and reference documents.
  • Perform bank reconciliation by matching bank statements with internal records and resolving discrepancies.
  • Support cash management activities, including cash/cheque handling documentation and daily tracking of inflows/outflows.
  • Assist in preparing basic financial reports and summaries for internal review.
  • Verify supporting documents for payments, invoices, and receipts before recording transactions.
  • Coordinate with store/operations teams to collect and validate transaction data on schedule.
  • Support month-end activities such as compiling transaction records and helping with closing checklists.
Job Specification
  • Accounting — basic knowledge of accounting principles and ability to apply them to transaction recording.
  • Bank Reconciliations — ability to match bank statement lines with ledger entries and flag mismatches for follow-up.
  • Cash management — support cash tracking, ensure proper documentation, and maintain accurate daily records of cash movements.
  • Accounting Entries — ability to record transactions correctly in ledgers with correct narration and reference.
  • Accounting Software — working knowledge of commonly used accounting tools and comfort entering and checking data in the system.
  • Ability to work hard — ready to complete tasks accurately within assigned timelines and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and also in a group — capable of handling assigned tasks alone while collaborating to collect documents and resolve queries.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines — able to manage peak periods like month-end with consistent output and prompt follow-up.
  • Education — Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, or related field (final year or newly completed preferred).
  • Certification — pursuing or completed CA/ACCA/CS/CPA-level coursework is a plus (or relevant accounting coursework from an accredited institute).

Nice to Have

  • Basic Excel skills for recon and report preparation (filters, formulas, and pivot tables).
  • Familiarity with GST/VAT concepts and invoice/receipt documentation practices in Nepal.
  • Prior internship or training experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance operations.
