Job Description

As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, and supporting the college's broader compliance and management objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, a sharp eye for detail, and advanced proficiency in modern, cloud-based accounting ecosystems—specifically Xero.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Data Management: Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and ledger reconciliations within our cloud accounting systems.
  • Xero System Administration: Serve as a core operator of the Xero platform, ensuring accurate data entry, managing bank feeds, reconciling accounts daily, and extracting financial reports.
  • Student & Transaction Processing: Process student fee payments, invoices, tracking, and handle financial transactional workflows (including processing refunds and credit notes accurately).
  • Reporting & Compliance Support: Assist the management team in preparing monthly financial reports, cash flow statements, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure alignment with organisational benchmarks.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate with administrative staff and management to verify financial records and resolve student or vendor account discrepancies promptly.

Requirements & Desirable Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Software & Systems (Critical):

  • Xero Expertise (Highly Desirable): Proven, hands-on experience using Xero for end-to-end bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, and invoicing is a massive advantage.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365 (particularly advanced Excel skills) and comfort adapting to cloud-based business tools and student management platforms.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of standard accounting principles and cash-flow management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English to collaborate seamlessly with international teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and handle sensitive data with complete confidentiality.
