Job Description

FightBack is looking for a young, energetic, and dedicated Self Defense Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate has a solid background in martial arts and a genuine interest in teaching physical safety skills. This role focuses on delivering the physical component of self-defense education aimed at preventing and mitigating the risk of sexual violence. The trainer will work directly with girls and boys, helping them build practical self-defense skills to respond to threats of sexual violence.

Selected candidates will first complete a one-month Train the Trainer (ToT) program. Upon successful completion, they will be certified and appointed as a Physical Trainer, conducting sessions in schools across various districts.

Scope of Work

  • Train participants according to the standards and curriculum set by FightBack's ToT program
  • Conduct self-defense training sessions in schools, both within and outside Kathmandu Valley
  • Deliver self-defense skills training with sensitivity to trainees' needs and backgrounds
  • Prepare and manage logistics for training sessions
  • Maintain and organize documentation provided during and collected after training
  • Coordinate closely with the supervisor and fellow trainers
  • Share feedback on training sessions and trainee progress with the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed +2 and currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Martial arts background with a certificate or degree specifying belt level achieved

Reporting and Performance Evaluation

The trainer will report to the Chief Self-Defense Trainer. Performance will be evaluated jointly by the Chief Self-Defense Trainer and the Managing Director.
