Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with deep expertise in design systems to unify the user experience across our micro-services platform. You will own the creation, governance, and evolution of a shared design system that ensures visual and interaction consistency across every product surface — regardless of which team or service builds it. This is a high-impact, foundational role. You will work at the intersection of design and engineering, partnering closely with Engineering managers, frontend developers, Team Leads and Business Analysts to establish a single source of truth for UI patterns, components, tokens, and guidelines.
What You Will Do
Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive design system (components, patterns, and documentation) in Figma or a tool of your choice with code-ready specifications.
Conduct a full UI audit across existing services to identify inconsistencies, redundancies, and opportunities for consolidation.
Define and enforce design principles, interaction patterns, accessibility standards, and brand guidelines that apply platform-wide.
Create and maintain a shared Figma or other tool component library with variants, auto-layout, and proper documentation for self-service adoption by other designers.
Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure design-to-code fidelity, contributing to or reviewing component implementations in frameworks such as React or Vue.
Establish a governance model for the design system:
Contribution guidelines
Versioning
Deprecation policies
Change review process
Champion adoption through:
Onboarding sessions
Internal documentation
Regular design-system updates
Partner with engineering leadership to align the design system roadmap with platform priorities.
Job Specification
6+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years focused on design systems or component libraries.
A portfolio that demonstrates a design system you built or significantly evolved, showing:
Components
Pattern documentation
Adoption metrics
Expert-level proficiency in Figma or any design tool, including:
Component variants
Auto-layout
Design tokens
Team libraries
Strong understanding of frontend technologies:
HTML
CSS
JavaScript
Component-based frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
Experience working in multi-product or multi-team environments where design consistency was a core challenge.
Deep knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to produce clear, thorough documentation and present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with design token tooling (e.g., Style Dictionary, Tokens Studio) and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Storybook or similar component documentation/playground tools.
Background in atomic design methodology or other scalable design frameworks.
Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source design systems.
Understanding of micro-frontend architectures and how shared UI libraries are consumed across independently deployed services.
Motion and interaction design skills (prototyping in Figma, Principle, or code).
What Success Looks Like
First 30 Days
Complete an audit of existing service UIs, cataloguing inconsistencies and shared patterns.
Interview key stakeholders (BA, Engineers, EMs) to understand pain points and adoption barriers.
First 60 Days
Publish v1 of the design system in Figma with core components:
Typography
Color
Spacing
Buttons
Forms
Navigation
Data display
Deliver a written style guide and contribution process.
Begin pairing with engineering to build the coded component library.
First 90 Days
Achieve measurable adoption across at least 3 services.
Reduce design-to-development handoff friction.
Establish a regular release cadence and governance review cycle.
