Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
- Research Design and Implementation: Assist in designing and implementing research projects, including formulating research questions, developing data collection tools, and preparing research plans.
- Field Visits: Conduct frequent field visits to collect data through interviews, surveys, focus group discussions, and other participatory methods. Ensure that data collection adheres to ethical standards and cultural sensitivities.
- Data Analysis: Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate software and techniques. Summarize and interpret research findings to produce clear and accurate reports.
- Documentation and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of research reports, policy briefs, and other communication materials. Ensure timely documentation of field activities and research progress.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with local governments, NGOs, and community leaders to facilitate data collection and stakeholder engagement in the research process.
- Capacity Building: Assist in conducting training sessions and workshops for field enumerators and community members on research methodologies and tools.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor the progress of research activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and reporting any challenges or delays to senior researchers.
Ethics and Compliance: Ensure that all research activities comply with ethical standards, including informed consent and confidentiality of research participants

Working Station: Kathmandu with frequent field visit
Duration: 1 year with possible extension (with 3-month probation period)
Required Qualification
Education and Training
- Master’s degree preferred in social science, development-related fields, public health and any relevant field with a good understanding of research.
Relevant Experience
- Research Projects: Proven experience in conducting social science or development-related research projects, preferably in public health, gender studies, Menstruation, Dignified Menstruation.
- Field Research: Familiarity with carrying out field visits for data collection in diverse settings, including rural and urban environments, with a focus on marginalized populations.
- Quantitative and Qualitative Research: Hands-on experience in using various research methodologies, such as surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory approaches. Proficient in data analysis using statistical software like SPSS, Stata, or qualitative analysis tools such as NVivo.
- Report Writing: Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality research reports, policy briefs, and academic publications.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations, local communities, and academic institutions to gather data, validate findings, and disseminate results.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Research Methodologies: Strong knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Ability to design research frameworks, create data collection tools, and apply statistical methods.
- Dignified Menstruation, Public Health and Social Development: Good understanding of key issues in Menstruation, Dignified Menstruation, public health, sustainable development, and social science fields, particularly in relation to Nepal.
- Data Management and Analysis: Proficiency in managing large datasets and conducting statistical analysis. Familiarity with software tools such as SPSS, Stata, or R, and qualitative tools like NVivo or Atlas.ti.
- Communication and Writing Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Nepali and English. Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and time management skills. Experience in managing research timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work in diverse cultural settings with respect for local norms and practices, particularly in rural communities.
- Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, field staff, and local stakeholders.
