Job Description

Call for Consultant – Develop SRHR Training Manual and Train Peer Educators from 3 districts of Terai, Province 2. 

Terms of Reference to develop Training Manuals on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, and Train 21 Peer Educators and Staffs of WOREC based on the Minimum Initial Service Package for Sexual and Reproductive Health among the Adolescents of the community and schools. 

Background

'WOREC Nepal is a movement based organization that functions with the premise of women rights and social justice as a prerequisite for peace, social justice, and sustainable development. From over 29 years, WOREC has established itself as leading national organization that works to prevent violence against women, its causes and consequences, ensure its economic, social-cultural well-being of women as well as other marginalized groups by promoting their access to rights and social justice. 

WOREC believes that Peer educators provide an important mechanism for reaching adolescent girls and boys, especially where project villages are remote and youth, including married girls, are more isolated. The local stakeholders, scoping and need assessment that conducted in 2018-19 found that peer educators can be particularly effective in transmitting information, communication and ideas, but less so when it came to providing referrals for sexual and reproductive health services. They also can be more comfortable when working with peers in individual sessions or groups, and less confident with larger advocacy efforts at the community level. However, they also need on-going, on-site training and monitoring support and ensure a level of quality control. 

Objective of the assignment

UNFPA, Ministry of Health and Population have many SRHR related field manuals and also WOREC have many research, advocacy manuals on SRHR. The consultant need to simplify the materials, include programmatic experiences, tailor materials and length for audiences of community level. In addition, updates have been made within the WOREC women health architecture with the transformative agenda, agenda for feminist organization and the revisions which needs to be disseminated to the field. The purpose of the consultancy is to adapt sexual and reproductive health and rights including and capacity building materials, in order to develop an integrated SRHR trainers package for Peer Educator and delivery of training to train and skilled them. 

Scope of Work

  • Desk review of existing SRHR related materials of WOREC
  • Advise on required revisions, timelines and develop work plan
  • Update facilitator slides and manuals based on exiting training materials, tools and feedback  
  • Finalize facilitator manuals/ToT guidance for 3 days trainings
  • Presentation summarizing final products
  • Submit the packages for trainers for approval from WOREC and train peer educator, WOREC staffs on the integrated training package
  • Delivery of the training at a venue of Province 2. 

Consultant Skills, knowledge and experience

  • At least 5-year experience implementing SRHR trainings
  • Master degree in public health
  • Proven previous experience in developing training materials and in capacity building, preferably in the field of SRHR-HIV and/or Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
