Job Description
- Support the reporting chef in the daily operation and work according to the instructions of Superiors;
- Keep work area at all times in hygienic conditions according to the rules set by the hotel;
- Follow the instructions and recommendations from the immediate Superiors to complete the daily tasks;
- Ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation;
- Coordinate and participate with other sections of requirements, cleanliness, wastage and cost control;
- Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes;
- Create new and exciting cakes, pastries and desserts to refresh hotel menus and engage the interest of customers;
- Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be modern, beautiful, exciting and appetizing;
- Ensure the highest possible standard of presentation & cleanliness in all areas of the Kitchen (both in the Kitchen itself and the front of house & back of house areas);
- Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station;
- Work closely with the reporting chef to assist with developing and refreshing menus for event function.
Job Specification
- Proven experience as Pastry Chef, Baker or relevant role
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- Willingness to replenish professional knowledge.
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition.
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field would be an added advantage.
