Job Description

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the National Project Director (NPD) and in close coordination with component manager the Project Officer will provide necessary support and assistance in planning and implementation of the project activities.

Under the overall direction of National Project Director (NPD) and National Program Manager (NPM), the project officer will;

  • Contribute in the in preparation of annual work plans, quarterly reports and progress reports;
  • Lead the effective implementation of the project activities in consultation with various regional, sub-regional offices, divisions/units of NHRC;
  • Ensure the necessary arrangements for workshops, seminars and training activities as per the work plan;
  • Assist the Component manager and other experts to ensure effective implementation of policies and guidelines developed through the support of the project;
  • Prepare terms of reference and request for proposals (RFP) for sub-contractors and consultants and ensure timely procurement of goods and services, and concept notes;
  • Prepare effective internal and external correspondence on project related issues;
    Coordinate with the NHRC officials, divisions and departments to implement the planned activities;
  • Assist in developing component planning and implementation plan under the guidance of Component Manager and NPD;
  • Provide all administrative and logistic supports in expediting the procurement and recruitment of the short-term expertise;
  • Ensure implementation of programmatic policy, processes and procedures with GESI Sensitivity;
  • Prioritize selection of consultant process with GESI considerations;
  • Respect the local community’s culture, diversity, norms and values;
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Job Specification

Education:

  • Completion of Master’s degree from a recognized university in management, social science, economics, development or any other relevant field.

Experience:

  • At least five years of relevant work experience in programme or project planning, management and coordination.
  • Prior experience on human rights related project will be an asset
  • Significant experience in the design and/or implementation of development programmes.
