Job Description

Under the overall guidance of the WHO Representative and the direct supervision of the Medical Officer (CDS) and technical guidance from NTD RA SEARO and the Medical Officer from the Global Leishmaniasis Programme in Geneva, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

 

  • Work very closely with the NTD control unit within EDCD and WCO and assist in program planning, implementation, surveillance and M&E of Kala azar, LF, Leprosy and other NTDs elimination programme as needed.
  • To support the national NTD programmes to strengthen data management by implementing DHIS2 or similar platforms.
  • Collect and Analyse data for KA, LF, leprosy and other NTDs from all sources (EWARS, HMIS, districts, outbreaks, and others) and assist EDCD and WHO in developing plans.
  • Support in preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly updates and reports including developing and maintaining/updating of a Kala-azar and NTD dashboard.
  • Undertake monitoring visits to programme and non-programme districts and provide support in recording & reporting, data management and surveillance etc.
  • Support the national KA and other NTDs elimination programme in verifying new foci of KA, including support in outbreak investigation of KA and other NTDs as necessary.
  • Monitor the logistics in relation to Kala-azar and other NTDs elimination programme, assisting the central, regional and district officials to develop and maintain a detailed inventory on drugs and other materials and equipment for regular monitoring and feedback to prevent critical ruptures.
  • Perform any other task related to monitoring and review of the Kala azar and other NTDs elimination programme, assigned by WHO.
  • Any other task as assigned by the supervisors.
Job Specification
  • Experience of working with Kala-azar or other vector borne disease control/elimination programme or NTDs will be an asset.

  • Prior experience of working in the disease control, elimination and surveillance is essential.

  • Technical expertise and overall attitude at work.

  • Good computer skills including office software applications.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Effective internal and external networking.

  • Proven ability to work under pressure and multitask.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, discretion and diplomacy.

  • Demonstrated networking and relationship management.

  • Should be conversant with the health system, HMIS and other issues that are related to the public health in Nepal.

Technical expertise; Overall attitude at work are also required mandatory competencies.

REMUNERATION:

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at NPR 2,298,590 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
