Job Description

SUS is seeking experienced and qualified consultants or consultancy firms for the assignment.

  • Conduct baseline assessment of organizational/staff capacity, challenges, and needs.
  • A contextual analysis and review of existing data that would provide key problems, issues, barriers, and trends that SUS is prioritizing addressing in the long term. Provide a narrative on key issues, themes, problems, and possible solutions.
  • A visual representation and narrative that illustrates what the organization thinks needs to change and how this can happen. It must include short-term, medium-term and long-term outcomes; key interventions; assumptions and goals.
  • Detailed descriptions of intervention strategies. A record of the types of interventions (grouping missions/activities based on geographical/ thematic coverage) and the utilization of organizational values that SUS will apply to bring about change including recurring or one-off interventions.
  • Outlines the key evaluation questions, what approach will be taken to answer these, and indicators to assess progress – with timeline and resources needed.
  • An organogram of the number and types of technical and operational human resources needed to implement the plan with a brief description.
  • The strategic plan would need to be validated formally within the SUS board, with members and other direct stakeholders to be agreed upon.
Job Specification
  • At least five years ofprofessional experience in strategic planning and management.
  • Prior working experience on federal issues is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with government partners and other stakeholders in public sector development programs especially in the area of livelihood, education, disaster management, Human Rights and Social Justice and community development.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • High-level written and oral communications skills in English and Nepali;
  • Must be result-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm, tact, diplomacy, and integrity;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and professional skills in interacting with government and development partners;
  • Skills in facilitation of stakeholder engagements/workshops;
  • Evidence of having undertaken similar assignments;
  • Experience in research, policy development, management, and programming-related work.
