Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial management of the company. The role involves day-to-day accounting operations, assist in preparation of financial statements, tax compliance, and assisting in audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain day-to-day financial transactions including journal entries, ledgers, and balances.
- Record and update all accounting vouchers — purchase, sales, payment, and receipt.
- Maintain and reconcile inventory records and coordinate periodic physical verification of stock.
- Prepare bank reconciliation statements on a regular basis.
- Manage debtors and creditors ledgers and ensure timely reconciliation and confirmation.
- Prepare monthly salary sheets, process payroll, and calculate statutory deductions.
- File E-TDS, VAT returns, and ensure compliance with Income Tax and VAT regulations as per Nepal laws.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
- Support external auditors during statutory and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and schedules.
- Calculate interest, monitor cash flow, and assist in preparing fund flow statements.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable for timely settlement.
- Support management in budgeting, forecasting, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Perform any other accounting and finance-related tasks as assigned by management.
Job Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (BBS/BBA or equivalent).
- Preference will be given to semi-qualified Chartered Accountants or candidates who have completed CAP-I and CAP-II courses of Chartered Accountancy (ICAN or equivalent).
- Master’s degree (MBS/MBA) will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in a trading or manufacturing company.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
- Good understanding of Nepalese taxation system including VAT and Income Tax compliance.
- Proficiency in Swastik, or similar accounting software.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
- Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
