CRS is collaborating with the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) in the impoverished midwestern region of Nepal to improve access to and increase awareness of family planning products. As PAF has been focusing on income generation through self-employment and small businesses in all five districts of the region, and the fertility rate here is the highest in Nepal (3.2), CRS has launched a pilot initiative in three Village Development Committees (VDCs) of Jumla District. In line with PAF’s strategy to empower target communities,

CRS will establish links with the Community Organizations (Cos) of the three VDCs to reach communities. A two-pronged approach will be used: training and orientation programs on family planning and health to increase awareness, and marketing skills transfer to increase access to family planning products for the community.
