Job Description
  • The Chief of Party provides overall management, coordination, oversight and ensures that activities and sub-partners are coordinating and working to achieve results. This individual will be the key liaison with coordination among USAID and key stakeholders, and other implementing partners.
  • Her/his primary responsibilities are aimed at providing overall leadership management and general technical direction of the entire program, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract.
  • This individual will be expected to identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments.
  • S/he will supervise activity implementation and ensure the activity meets stated goals and reporting requirements. The Chief of Party will have demonstrated ability to work in complex, politically charged, unstable environments, conflict areas, work across different cultures, and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines.
Job Specification
  • Requires a Master’s degree in education or a directly relevant field from an accredited university, or a Ph.D. or Ed.D. is highly preferred. 
  • At least 15 years of experience in relevant management, supervisory, technical experience working with programs that are of a similar scope and scale to this program. 
  • At least 10 years’ development experience in Nepal and/or South Asia.
  • Experience managing education projects in Nepal.
  • Candidates with experience in early grade reading preferred, for example, teaching reading, contributing technically or managing reading programming. 
  • Experience in managing large scale activities, strategic planning and implementation of related activities. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of United States Government rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to project and program compliance and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex, politically charged, unstable environments, work across different cultures, and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines across a broad geographic area.
  • Fluency in Nepali and English.
