Job Description
  • Ensure setting up and proper implementation of the Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation (RBME) System and define performance measurements
  • Identify the needs and define tools for the collection of quantitative and qualitative information, and devise mechanism for collection and reporting of project information/data
  • Monitor the project performance against the identified indicators and M&E framework to ensure intended deliverables are jointly achieved
  • Prepare monitoring schedules, facilitate the implementation of a participatory monitoring system
  • Prepare and facilitate periodic joint reflection and planning sessions and regularly monitor risks
  • Provide relevant and reliable information on processes, results and effects of project work in accordance with GIZ's M&E standards
  • Prepare the annual progress report
  • Support strategic planning and prioritisation based on timely, regular engagement with the project team in the various municipality clusters, monitor socio-economic trends to facilitate planning
  • Work closely in developing and conducting of the Business Climate Surveys
  • Act as communication and knowledge management focal person of the project and liaise accordingly
  • Undertake documentation of successes, best practices and lessons learned from the experiences
  • Closely work with the project team in conducting dialogues and interactions with stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the team and assist in the planning and implementation of human capacity development measures
  • Support in improving the coordination and communication between the project team in the field and the Kathmandu office
  • Act as the focal person for the project in the working groups of M&E, public relations and digitalisation
  • Support the project team in the value chain selection and analysis
  • Provide support in the development of the entrepreneurship development component and work closely to support identification of product or process innovations in the value chains
  • Support the LPED team members in integrating GIZ’ project management toolbox Capacity WORKS in planning, daily operation and review
  • Support the Chief Technical Advisor in preparation of project related communication as required for reporting to the commissioning ministry, the German Embassy and GIZ
Job Specification
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Political or Social Sciences or Management
  • Experience of minimum 5 years in a similar position, preferably in an international development organisation
  • Ability to work independently and with a solution-oriented attitude
  • Analytical and report writing capacities
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Work experience in the field of (local) economic development would be an advantage 
  • Knowledge on GIZ’ project management toolbox Capacity WORKS would be an advantage
  • Very good communication of both written and spoken English and Nepali 
  • Sound computer skills (MS Office)

GIZ has been active in Nepal since 1975 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and opened its own office in the capital, Kathmandu, in 1979.
