The project contributes to promote improved advocacy for responsible business development, including rights and good corporate governance in selected four value chains; tea, ginger, milk and cardamom in seven districts of the Eastern Development Region of Nepal.

Nepal is one of the least developed countries in the world, and many are confined in poverty and their human rights are violated. UNNATI means “prosperity” or “progress” in Nepali, and the programme seeks to promote sustainable growth that reduces poverty and raises living standards.

Agriculture is providing livelihood for three-fourths of the Nepali population and accounting for around one-third of the country’s GDP. Our vision with UNNATI is that farmers and agriculture entrepreneurs in Eastern Nepal will be able to sell and earn more, both regionally and globally, by improving the value chain and getting access to better finance, technology, and infrastructure.
