Job Description
  • Liaise and coordinate project activities related to the Urban Health Initiative with local and
    international implementing partners, WHO South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and WHO
    HQ.
  • Maintain good working relationships with national and local health authorities (Ministry of Health,
    Department of Health Services, National Health Training Centre, National Health Education,
    Information & Communication, Nepal Health Research Council etc.), the municipalities of
    Kathmandu Valley, local universities, other interested parties, as well as other local implementing
    partners especially UN-Habitat and ICIMOD.
  • Organize and support WHO work for meetings and seminars with stakeholders and experts.
  • Support the preparation of local work plans to implement stakeholder consultation, field research
    and other activities, in close cooperation with WCO team and WHO HQ staff working on the
    Urban Health Initiative.
  • Support the preparation of budgets for local activities involving stakeholder consultation and field
    research in close cooperation with WCO team and WHO HQ staff working on the Urban Health
    Initiative.
  • Monitor project activities and expenses against local project work plan and budget and provide
    regular updates on progress and results.
  • Act as a local focal point for the gathering, recording and reporting of information and data on the
    Urban Health Initiative.
  • Facilitate any other operation to support the implementation of project activities for the Urban
    Health Initiative, including the development of public presentations, press briefings and other
    communication activities, as well as liaise with local stakeholders. 
Job Specification
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to perform practical hands-on field work.
  • Ability to participate actively and cooperatively in knowledge sharing and policy forums at various
    levels and also to coordinate the GoN agencies, international / bilateral agencies, NGOs / INGOs
    etc.
  • Good technical knowledge in air quality issues both in global and local level.
  • Very good analytical skills including ability to collect and analyze technical data and information
    and to draw and present conclusions in written and spoken form.
  • Very good writing skills in English, including ability to write clear and concise progress reports,
    analytical reports, plans and proposals.
